Car Insurance Cancellation for Non-payment Credit Nc Farm Bureau
09/15/2021
I used NCFBINS website and setup E-Bills and automatic payment for insurance payments. I got called the day after my insurance expired by NCFBINS to let me know my insurance had expired. I confirmed with them that my ebill was setup for automatic payment and they no real answer as to why my credit card wasn't charged. I spoke with my agent who stated that they would process it as continuous coverage due to there site not creating the charge. Agent told me if i got letter from the DMV to call them back and they would send over the FS1 with proof of continuous coverage. Letter came from DMV, called my agent and was then told that the main office didn't approve the continuous coverage. No call back to walk back what was told, no email, no letter. Just 150 fine from the DMV, thanks NCFBINS for nothing and not honoring what i was told by the agent.
Desired Outcome
Store credit
North Carolina Farm Bureau Insurance Agency Response
09/23/2021
September 23, 2021 BBB Sourcing Eastern North Carolina 5540 Mumford Rd, Suite 130 Raleigh, NC 27612-2655 Re: Case No: ******** Insured: **************** Policy Number: *********** To Whom It May Concern: This letter is in response to the correspondence dated September 15, 2021, regarding the above referenced policy. Our records indicate that North Carolina Farm Bureau automobile policy, ***********, renewed on June 05, 2021, for the July 13, 2021 through January 13, 2022 policy period for a term premium of $1,097.28 on a full payment plan. At that time, a billing notice was mailed to the address on file in the amount of $1,178.06 due by July 13, 2021. Included in the premium amount on this bill was a brought forward amount (BFA) from the prior term of $80.78. On July 6, 2021, the automobile policy was registered on the North Carolina Farm Bureau Customer Portal. At that time, a payment was processed in the amount of $80.78 from a Visa card ending in x**** to be applied to the outstanding BFA. Additionally, the policy was enrolled in paperless billing (E-Bill) and an automatic payment model was enabled. When automatic payments are enabled, the associated account will not be drafted for any existing bills, and the following verbiage is displayed upon the completion of the enrollment process. "Please note: You are still responsible for making or arranging payment on any amount CURRENTLY due on your policy." Since the total amount outstanding was not paid on July 6, 2021, a revised billing notice generated that evening for the renewal installment in the amount of $1,097.28 due on July 13, 2021. Due to the required processing window, the E-Bill and automatic payment enrollment was not completed prior to the generation of the billing notice and as such, the notice was mailed to the address on file. Additionally, since the renewal installment was outstanding when the automatic payment model was enabled, this amount would not have been drafted. On July 14, 2021, a Notice of Expiration was mailed to the address on file providing a final due date of July 26, 2021 for the premium of $1,097.28 to be received in order to prevent an interruption of coverage. Payment was not received and as notified, the policy expired effective July 13, 2021. We have also reached out to the Agency Manager for a statement regarding this situation and confirmed that the insured was contacted upon the expiration of the policy but was not guaranteed continuous coverage. After reviewing this situation, we are going to grant a onetime good faith exception for continuous coverage and reinstate the automobile policy effective July 13, 2021. This change should be completed within the next few business days and revised documentation would be sent at that time reflecting the reinstatement. If I may be of further assistance in this matter, please contact me at ************** or at ***************************** Unless otherwise notified, we will consider this file closed. Respectfully, NORTH CAROLINA FARM BUREAU MUTUAL INSURANCE COMPANY, INC. **************** Customer Service Representative
